FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What services does Rest & Recover provide?
Rest & Recover is a place for relaxation and recuperation in a supportive environment with meals, appointment coordination, and local transportation included*. We accept reservations from patients who are planning an elective surgery in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. If your reservation with us begins on the day of your arrival in Guadalajara, we’ll be at the airport to greet you. We’ll also take you to meet your surgeon as well as to any pre-op testing that he or she has ordered. If you develop any complications, we’ll contact your surgeon on your behalf to request instructions.
*includes transportation to/from the airport, to/from the pharmacy, to/from medical appointments, and to/from the laboratory for pre-op testing.
Do you offer massages?
Yes, we do offer lymphatic and therapeutic massages at a reasonable cost and by appointment at the recovery house.
Do you have nurses on staff?
Although we don’t have registered nurses on staff, we do have dedicated staff members who are able to assist you. Should a medical issue or complication occur, we would contact your surgeon for instructions. This could result in a new prescription, a visit to your surgeon’s office, or even a house call. If you need help replacing a bandage or bathing, we are happy to help if asked. If your surgery recovery requires round-the-clock nursing care, alternative arrangements should be made. In these cases, we suggest that you ask your surgeon about remaining hospitalized until you are mobile enough to get out of bed and walk short distances.
Do I need to bring a companion with me?
No, you don’t have to bring a companion with you. But, it is suggested if you are having certain procedures like a tummy tuck, large volume liposuction, or buttock implants. If you opt to bring a companion with you, please reserve a deluxe room.
Where are you located?
We are located near Puerto de Hierro and Innovãre Hospitals in Zapopan, a suburb of Guadalajara. Andares Mall is very close to the recovery house.
What should I bring with me?
We’ll take you to the pharmacy so that you can purchase any medications that your surgeon has prescribed. While there, we’ll point out any additional items that you may need such as adult diapers for drainage, bandages, disinfectant, etc. It’s for this reason that we generally do not suggest filling up your suitcase with these items. We do recommend that you bring comfortable “around the house” clothing. Because you’ll have plenty of time on your hands while you recover, we suggest bringing your laptop, tablet, or Kindle with you. For pharmacy purchases, you’ll probably want to bring a major credit or debit card with you. It’s a good idea to advise your credit card issuer that you’ll be traveling outside of your home country.
